Curated and independently published by Cecilia Camacho, founder, editor and creative director of CC/magazine, The Unusual Barcelona is a collectible city journal bringing together travel, culture, photography, art, design and the creative spirit of Barcelona in one beautifully designed publication.

Now in its 5th edition, The Unusual Barcelona retains the format introduced with its previous edition, evolving beyond the traditional travel guide into something closer to an independent magazine and a book. Conceived as an editorial object in its own right, its pages combine carefully crafted stories, photography, creative voices and encounters with the people and projects shaping contemporary culture.

Photography plays an important role in this new edition, with work by Fujico, Marta Vidal, Carla Step, Guillermo de la Torre, Romain Laprade, Martina Matencio, Kristina Tarasenko, Ely Sánchez and Yuhao Chang, among others. Some of their images take us through Barcelona; others transport us much further afield, bringing together different ways of looking at the world through photography.

The 5th edition also features new stories and encounters with SIGLA Studio, Flowers by Bornay, Mònica Figueras and Chidy Wayne, opening the door to very different creative disciplines, practices and worlds.

Barcelona is also explored through the personal recommendations of some of the people who live and create in the city. Jordi Labanda, Clara Narvión, Verònica Fuerte of Hey Studio and Fer Villanueva of Otsu, among other creative voices, share some of their favourite addresses. Their choices sit alongside our own, offering different perspectives on where to eat, drink, shop, stay and experience art, design and culture.

At the same time, The Unusual Barcelona remains a guide made to be used. More than 400 carefully selected and updated addresses, organised by neighbourhood and category, offer an insider’s perspective on the city: restaurants, cafés, bakeries, wine bars, galleries, museums, independent shops, hotels and lesser-known places worth discovering.

Created for curious travellers and locals alike, The Unusual Barcelona is both practical and inspiring: a publication to take with you through the streets of Barcelona, but also one to read slowly, display, collect and return to long after the journey is over.
